St Mary

St Mary's Church at Astbury invites everyone, wherever they may find themselves on their spiritual journey, to join in our Christian adventure. Together as a church family, we seek to grow more like Jesus, helping carry one-another’s burdens, sharing our talents and gifts, praying and worshipping together. We do not take ourselves too seriously and we know we are far from perfect, but we do make amazing cakes.

Whether you are a regular church-goer or you just want to dip in your toes and test the water, you are sure of a warm welcome at St Mary's.

SAFEGUARDING

Singers (and congregation) welcome!

Join Astbury choir for another Come and Sing Evensong on 29th September at 6.30pm, celebrating the wonderful music of Charles Villiers Stanford, who died 100 years ago – on the Sunday nearest his birthday (30th September).
Stanford’s music is unashamedly romantic and very rewarding for singers, without being too difficult. We will sing his Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in Bb and his anthem, ‘O for a closer walk with God’, as well as responses based on his compositions, a chanted psalm and two congregational hymns.
The rehearsal will be from 2.30 to 5.00 in the afternoon and, if any singers would like to join us, we will also be learning the music during Friday evening choir rehearsals in September from 7.00 to 8.00. Music and listening files can be sent out in advance.
To take part, or for more information, please contact Sally Drage: 07977 903561, [email protected], or talk to her after a service.
