Ellistown: St Christopher, Ellistown

Ellistown was built by Colonel Ellis for the miners when the village's coal mine was opened in the 1870s. St. Christopher's Church was built in 1895 out of local Ellistown brick.
St. Christopher's has been described as "a newly planted church". Over the last few years it has greatly revived and numbers continue to grow. The Ellistown Sunday School is particularly strong.
The services at St. Christopher's are in a tradtional style but with an easy to follow format. Every first Sunday of the month is the Family Service when everybody can participate by singing, dancing, choosing your own favourite hymns and playing simple percussion instruments.
This is a very exciting time for our parish, as we prepare for our new Rector, the Rev'd Olwen Woolcock.
