St Peter's, Leighton-cum-Minshull Vernon, Crewe

We are a very friendly church, in a semi-rural community on the outskirts of Crewe.
The present church, which can seat about 150 people, was consecrated on 12 December 1849, replacing an earlier building which stood near to what is now Leighton Hospital. The church and churchyard are very pleasing to the eye. The style is Anglo-Gothic, based on a design by the esteemed architect, Sir Gilbert Scott, who was closely associated with the Gothic revival. In short, the church is a Victorian gem set in the glorious Cheshire countryside.
This church continues as a place of peace, fellowship and worship. We reach out in mission to the 8,000 people who live in the parish. Numerous couples choose to marry here. There are two or three Baptisms each month. We maintain a full programme of social and fundraising activities supported by people of all ages across the parish. Many families come regularly to the churchyard to tend graves of loved ones. Some simply stroll in the beauty and tranquillity of the gardens.
If you can support us by prayer or donation, please do so. Better still, join us for a service. You will be made most welcome.

Sunday School
We become familiar with Jesus and the Bible through stories, prayers, music, drama, games and crafts. Sometimes we go into church; to perform a short play, show some of our art, or see part of a service that is more unusual.
All children welcome. Usual age is 4-11 years.
Pre-school children may attend with a parent if required.
Secondary school children are also welcome (but let us know in advance if you will be joining us, then we'll have time to prepare something a little more 'challenging' for you).
We are always delighted to see new faces. Pop in for the occasional class or become one of our regulars; you will be most welcome.
