REMEMBER REMEMBER?
The well known beginning to the rhyme associated with Guy Fawkes which of course we'll be hearing remembered not just on the 5th but for many nights around it. Remember?November of course brings with it our annual Remembrance services. The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month will be held in Rolleston at our War Memorial the Lych Gate. On Remembrance Sunday St Mary's hosts the British Legion and uniformed organisations in an Act of Remembrance starting at 10.00am. We will also at Holy Trinity remember the War Dead starting at our 11.30am service.
Remember? In the evening service at St Mary's Church we will be holding our Annual Memorial Service for all who have lost a loved one in the previous 12-18 months. This will be a time when we can remember our loved ones by name and have a candle lit in their memory. This service will be open to all not just those who have been bereaved in the previous year.
Remember? Advent begins at the end of November and Advent means 'the coming'. Our Advent Bright festival lights up the end of November by saying remember to wait expectantly the coming of Jesus. Christians around the world celebrate this time of year by actively waiting. It sounds contradictory to 'wait actively' but in all our rememberings of this month we also stop to 'remember' what many of us were not around for and yet we still actively remember.
This is the calling of November;
Remember, Remember?

ANSLOW NEWS
Harvest Service
Reverend Ian thanked everyone who had given their time to decorate Holy Trinity and for their donations of flowers, fruit and vegetables. He also thanked Mosley Primary School, Messy Church, Little Monsters and Ann Lowe for the window displays. Refreshments were served after the service which allowed everyone to relax, chat and look around the church at the beautiful flowers.
Harvest Supper
Our Harvest Supper at the end of September managed to top last year's fund raising total. One hundred guests enjoyed a delicious supper followed by our two auctioneer/comedians John Lanham and John Hodgetts. The two Johns were certainly on form this year telling joke after joke in between auctioning the many items which were so generously donated. A big thank you to Mary Johns for her donation of paintings which helped to boost the auction once again. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event such a success and also the kind bidders who so generously helped raise £1066.00 for Holy Trinity Church Anslow funds.
Remembrance Sunday - November 14th
Our Remembrance Service is always a very special time but this year it will be made more so by the beautiful voice of Carol Johanne Coxon who is coming to sing for us. I am sure you will all want to be a part of this and we look forward to welcoming you.
Christmas Market
We are holding a Christmas Market on 4th December at the Church from 10.00am until 1.00pm, selling a variety of crafts from jewellery, knitted items, toys, cakes, preserves and lots more. We will be taking orders on the day for Christmas wreaths. Refreshments will be served in the Trinity Room. Please come and support us as all proceeds will go to the upkeep of our beautiful Church.
Messy Church
Messy Church is for young children at the 11.15 a.m. Sunday Service to have a great time. Contact Lizzy 01283 520530 or lizzyhodgetts@yahoo.co.uk for further details.
Craft Group
The weekly craft group will commence on 4th November at 1.30pm. The venue has not yet been finalised. (Watch this space.) All are welcome to come and learn new skills, whilst socialising with others.
Remembrance Sunday - November 14th
Coffee afternoon
2.30 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. The coffee afternoon is still going strong thanks to John Wedd and his team. It really is good value for money. Tea/Coffee and cake for a minimum donation of a £1 and a free raffle ticket. The money collected is given to a different charity each month including Holy Trinity. The raffle is drawn at the end of each month and the prizes are well worth winning. Please come along and enjoy pleasant company and home-made cakes.
Cleaning
The Church is cleaned every third Wednesday from 2.00 p.m. by a dedicated team. Teams are in 3's so it would only mean turning out 4 times a year. We are short of one pair of hands to make up a team. If you could spare a couple of hours please ring 812428 for further details.
Churchyard
We still need bulbs, ferns and rhododendrons to make a welcome display for next spring. Our thanks go to those who have already contributed.
