St Francis first sprang to life in the 1880's to meet the needs of the new and expanding area of Ashton and Ashton Gate. Serving the community remains a key aim for today's St Francis Church. 'Warmth of Welcome' is a hallmark of the church's style, according to those who visited us from away and join us from our own community. We aim to be all-inclusive and we rejoice in the age-range within the congregation, from just a few weeks to well... 'looking forward to that Queen's telegram'
The Sunday life of worship is based around the eucharist (family communion service) in which the expanding Sunday School make their own special contribution. We try to be open to influences both old and new and this is reflected in the music at the church. We see church as a place of celebration and are eager to take note of all the stages of life, the joys and the sorrows of those who travel with us as we seek to be faithful to God and discover his purposes for us at this time.
