St Cedds is a small church in the suburbs of Barkingside.
Opened just before the start of the Second World War, this dual purpose building is used as a centre for many varied events during the week, and then is transformed into a place of worship for our Sunday morning services.
SERVICES AND MIDWEEK STUDY/PRAYER GROUPS
Although a small church, there is much that goes on. Our one regular service is at 10am every Sunday, and the varying types of worship that take place include Holy Communion, Healing, and Family Services.
During the week there is also the chance to take part in other events including prayer groups and Bible studies. These are usually held on a Tuesday evening.
YOUNG PEOPLE
For the young people there are also a number of events, which if not based at St Cedds, have connections with some of the church members.
There is a Sunday School, which is usually held during the Sunday morning service.
For those aged 11-15 there is a group which is currently run at St Pauls Hainult fortnightly on a Wednesday evening.
For the 15-18s (and those who come back from University from time to time) there is currently a group which runs fortnightly on a Monday evening at Clayhall Baptist Church. This is just a few minutes walk from St Cedds.
Both groups are run under the auspices Urban Saints (www.urbansaints.org). These groups try and bring together the young people from all of the Barkingside/Clayhall area churches together. This is so that those in churches with only small numbers of young people can meet up with a wider group of young Christians in the area.
The two uniformed groups we have based at the Church are Rainbows and Brownies.
TRANSPORT LINKS
The closest public transport links are buses which stop in Woodford Avenue, (179/123), Clayhall Avenue (128), and Fullwell Avenue/The Glade (169). These connect with a number of local underground stations, which include South Woodford, Barkingside and Gants Hill. Some of the buses also connect to our nearest overground mainline station in Ilford.
