Our church stands in the park land known as Barningham Park on the outskirts of the village of Matlaske. The church dates from the 14th century. The nave and tower have been in ruins since the early 17th century. The present useable part of the building consists of the 14th century chancel with Victorian additions. The ruined tower contains a unique Victorian steel bell, one of only three in the County of Norfolk. The church and its ruins are most picturesque and have been used in recent film and television recordings. Nearby lies the village of Baconsthorpe with its ruined castle and the well known award winning, Margaret's Tearooms. Do try to visit this small country church when you are in the area, you will not go away disappointed.
