St Matthew's Church, Widcombe Hill, BA2 6AA
St Matthew's is a large church, built for the Victorians. Its beautiful spire dominates the village and houses the bells that were once situated at St Thomas, but were taken apparently following a bitter battle in the porch of St Thomas between the churchwardens!
During the 1970's it was refurbished to provide the Parish Hall and various smaller meeting rooms. Towards the end of the last century, weekly attendance fell to the point where it was no longer feasible to continue regular worship here. However, it is still used for some larger services, prayers and is an excellent building for use by other communities such as local schools for their nativity services.
It is the largest church in Bath (with the exception of the Abbey) and consequently is a very useful venue for holding events. The church, hall and meeting rooms are available for hire, either for regular events such as aerobics classes, or for one-off large events, parties and exhibitions.

We currently have a vacancy for a Vicar. Services are held at our sister church, St Thomas a Becket by local clergy and our own team.
