"Light Funtastic" - Newton Poppleford St Luke
Light Funtastic is our Sunday morning club for children of five years old and upwards. We begin with worship in church, with the rest of the congregation, and then move to the church hall.

This service is based on A Service of the Word. It is relatively light on liturgy, allowing more time for singing and teaching. It is usually led by lay members of the church. Informal, accessible worship for those who don't attend church regularly, and for those who do! Usually lay-led, often experimenting with different styles of worship. A less formal eucharistic service, with the expectation that children attending will find something to keep their interest. However, there is a play area at the back of the church if they would like to play there at any point in the service. After the service there is an opportunity for individual prayer ministry in the Sanctuary with trained members of the Prayer Ministry Team.

A worship service of carols, readings (Biblical and secular), prayers, a talk, robed choir and lots of candles. Although light levels will be low, the carol words will be projected onto the wall at the front of church. Afterwards, mulled wine, mince pies and chat!
Tuesday 24th December 2013 at 4:00 PM for ¾ hour
This lay-led worship service is a retelling of the nativity story, with the children (of all ages) invited to get involved in setting out the nativity scene at the altar. They can come dressed as a nativity character if they wish. There will be child-friendly carols and a short talk.

First Communion of Christmas - Tipton St. John St John the Evangelist
Tuesday 24th December 2013 at 11:30 PM for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
This formal service of Holy Communion marks the start of the Festival of Christmas. There will be hymns/carols, liturgy, prayers, a sermon and a celebation of the Eucharist, during which everyone is invited to the altar rail to receive Communion or, if not your usual custom, a blessing. Our Vicar, Mark, will lead the service and there will be a small robed choir.
Christmas Day Communion - Tipton St. John St John the Evangelist
Wednesday 25th December 2013 at 10:00 AM for 1 hour
The family service for the Festival of Christmas. We shall sing hymns/carols, say and sing a little liturgy, prayers, a talk and celebrate Communion. Those who don't usually receive the bread and wine are invited to the altar rail to receive a blessing. Children can bring along a Christmas gift if they wish. At the back of the church, on the carpeted area. there are toys and books to entertain younger children, either there or brought back to their pew.

We meet at Tipton St. John playing fields car park for a short introductory act of worship then process singing behind a (live) donkey to Tipton St. John church, which the donkey enters. There is then a service of Holy Communion with a long dramatised reading of the Passion story from the Bible. There is a children's play area at the back of the church, to which parents can take their children at any point in the service.

This quiet, meditative service has Good Friday readings and reflections interspersed with hymns and times of silence for private prayer.

This family-friendly service of Holy Communion will be especially celebratory for Easter, so will include a little sung liturgy, but also a variety of hymns, prayers and a talk from the priest.
