We are a mixed and inclusive congregation, friendly and welcoming of newcomers. Our worship is centred around Family Communion with vestments, servers and member participation, especially in Bible reading and singing - hymns and songs traditional and modern. Children are admitted to communion from age 7 - after preparation between Easter and Whitsunday each year. Confirmation is offered from age 16. We are a congregation of about 60 adults at 9.30am each Sunday. We use Common Worship Order One. A Junior Church of around 12 youngsters meets in the hall every Sunday in term time for activities and Bible stories.
Completed in 1955 our church seats 120, more if required. The most striking feature of the building is the window with its angel faces and brightly coloured wings over the altar, which is at the west end. We have a comfortable creche/meeting room and a 2 manual organ.
St Michael's was at first a conventual district, then a separate parish, then from 1979 one of the 3 district churches in the Borehamwood team. St Nicholas, Elstree join in 2005 when we became the Parish of Elstree & Borehamwood.
The church hall is home to a number of community groups during the week and children's parties at the weekend. Parking is available at the church and in the vicinity. For hall bookings ring the churchwarden: 020 8386 5469.
For enquiries about Baptism, Marriage or other pastoral matters contact the Vicar, Revd Richard Leslie on 020 8953 2362 or stmichaelsvicarage@btinternet.com
