St Ambrose Church, the parish church of Westbourne, is a late Victorian Perpendicular gothic building by the architect Charles Hodgson Fowler. Here you will find splendid carved woodwork by Temple Moore, and glass by Burlison and Grylls and Powells.
Services have a gently catholic ethos with dignified ceremonial and stimulating preaching. The Parochial Church Council has passed Resolutions A, B and C.
The church has an enthusiastic robed choir that sings at the Sunday Sung Eucharist and Choral Evensong on the last Sunday of the month. New members receive a warm welcome and full training will be given. Telephone Peter Barrie the Director of Music for details (01202 730200).
The church has a lofty and spacious interior making it a popular venue for weddings throughout the year. The Westbourne Orchestra and other organisations hold popular concerts aided by the excellent acoustics of the building.
The church hall is available for hire (call 01202 766772 for details). The church is equipped with a full induction loop system for the hearing impaired and there is ample car parking.
