St Mary the Virgin

Welcome to St Mary the Virgin, Burrough-on-the-Hill. This  is a  beautiful medieval church with glorious stained glass windows, a 13th century font, 15th century stone effigies, and memorials to famous residents of the village.

The Church is part of the Diocese of Leicester and the Burrough Hill Benefice of churches, within which is the Burrough Hill parish, comprising Burrough on the Hill, Somerby, Gt Dalby, Little Dalby, and Pickwell. A strong fellowship exists between all the churches in the benefice.

Burrough on the Hill holds services once a month, generally on the fourth Sunday, and we also host a great variety of concerts, events, and craft workshops throughout the year reflecting how our church is firmly rooted in the life of the community.

You are very welcome to look around the church, which is normally open every day, or to attend our services and events.

Safeguarding

"Our parish of Burrough-on-the Hill: St Mary the Virgin (The Burrough Hill Parishes) is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Leicester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO [add their details here or use the button to link to a page that shows the info] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor [add their details here or use the button below to link to your own page that shows the info or the diocesan safeguarding page]. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."

We are currently working on our disability access action plan.
