About our Parish

The church is in Military Road next to the Royal Mail Sorting Office and close to the City Council Offices

The parish extends from the Cathedral boundary out to Sturry taking in the large housing areas on both sides of the Sturry Road, including increasing student housing, and all the commercial and retail outlets in the area.

The area has been identified as one of the poorest in Kent and in recent years has been the recipient of a government regeneration grant. Although this has resulted in it no longer being officially considered as a deprived area, nonetheless there is no perceived overall change in the nature of the area on the ground. From data for the parish from the Church Urban Fund it is the most deprived area in Canterbury and amongst the most deprived in the Diocese and the Country with 48% child deprivation.

We seek to be an open church working to make it easy for people to connect with church. It is a key mission objective to take 'Church' out into the parish and our Street Klub in the parish on alternative Sunday afternoons is a part of that.

Our Priest, Rev. Phil has just joined us in the past two months as a Mission Priest to help the church further its work in the parish of All Saints over a five year period.

We have two Primary schools in the Parish and continue to increase our links and work with them. It is part of our plan in the future to have occasional acts of worship at Parkside school at the other end of the Parish from the church at a time to suit those living around

We plan to develop Street Klub into greater contact with families as they become, slowly into contact with us.

Population: 8500
