Welcome to the Parish of St. Martin & St. Paul, Canterbury

Our Parish consists of two thriving churches within the City of Canterbury, Kent.

St. Paul's Church dates from Norman times and is very close to the city centre. St Paul's shares its loaction with the Parish Centre, built in 2005. The interior of the church is undergoing a major refurbishment which will be compleleted in April 2013

 St. Martin's Church  is England's oldest Parish church and part of the Canterbury World Heritage Site. St. Augustine visited our church in 597 to begin the mission authorised by Pope Gregory the Great. 

Together we continue our mission to live out the Gospel in thought, word and deed.

Our churches stand in the centre of the liberal Anglican tradition; we have an enthusiastic choir (new members welcome) and a lively Sunday Zone for children which meets at St. Paul's at 10.30 am in term time. 
The church also runs an informal Messy Church in the Querns community centre, a very popular monthly Taize service on a Sunday evening.

Family Friendly service with music from our excellent robed choir and a Sunday School - called Sunday Zone. Hymns are taken from Common Praise (A & M) Coffee is served after the service in the adjoining parish hall and sometimes there is a parish lunch as well. All are Welcome!

The Parish Centre, built in 2007 and therefore one of the newest in Canterbury, comprises the main hall for the parish, plus a kitchen, an office, and male and female WCs on the ground floor. There are three meeting rooms on the first floor, one of which can be used for quiet contemplation, and another as a music practice room.The hall or the other rooms can be hired. The costs are, for the first hour:Main Hall: £25 per hour. The Hall will cater for 75 - 80 people sitting at tables.Meeting Room: £15 per hour. This room will take 15 - 20 people.Childrens Room: £15 per hour. This room will take about 25 people.Music Room: £17.50 per hour. This room will take up to 30 people.For the second or subsequent hours, the hire costs are:Main Hall: £20 per hourMeeting Room: £10 per hourChildrens Room: £10 per hourMusic Room: £12.5 per hourFor further information, please ring the parish office on 01227 768072, or the Premises Supervisor (Mrs Jackie Curd) on 01227 452131, and someone will return your call as soon as possible.
