The St. Magdalene Church is located within the delightful settlement of Chulmleigh, Devon. Surrounded by pristine countryside, the Church stands facing the rolling hills of Devon. The Church is over 600 years old, and a brief look back in history shows that the Church played a dominating role in the development and progression of the town of Chulmleigh.
However, the Church has played an active part in both history and the modern day, working actively with the community and schools. The inside of the Church is elaborately decorated with an elegantly carved 16th Century rood screen extending across the nave and aisles. The screen is surmounted by 17th Century wooden figures of the four evangelists. In addition there are several beautiful stained glass windows, providing comfort and inspiration for those within.
Holy Communion is celebrated four times a month, as well as numerous other services (ranging from contemporary to traditional). Most of the services are within the church, others take part at locations within the local community. All-age and Morning worship are also provided within the Church. Children are very welcome, there is a small designated play-area to occupy the younger children.
