The Feast of the Ascension of Jesus Christ commemorates the bodily Ascension of Jesus into Heaven. It is one of the ecumenical feasts of Christian churches, ranking with the feasts of the Passion and Pentecost.

On this day the worldwide Church holds services to commemorate Jesus returning to his Father. Within the Church this is known as a Day of Obligation when all Christians are called to observe major feasts. The service will be a Eucharist which includes prayers, readings, singing led by the choir and Holy Communion.
