Wrap Up Tameside is part of the wider Wrap Up UK initiative. Their aim is to collect winter coats, fleeces, scarves, hats and gloves for distribution to charities supporting people across the UK who struggle to keep warm during the winter months.The local campaign, being organised by Dukinfield and Stalybridge Rotary Club, runs during October and early November with all the items collected being donated to Tameside Women’s Centre and local homeless projects.Coats must be warm and suitable for the winter.Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:Together Centre, Birch Lane, DukinfieldSt George's Church, Church Walk, StalybridgeReach Church, Huddersfield Road, StalybridgeStalybridge Junior Football Club, Mossley Road, Ashton-under-LyneStalyhill Junior School, Hereford Way, StalybridgeMossley Sub Post Office, Manchester Road, MossleyClub President (Martin Daglish) comments "As residents struggle with the cost of living crisis we are very keen to offer support to local families struggling to keep warm in their homes. Last year the club dropped off over 200 winter coats at the Tameside Women's Centre and provided a further 150 coats for local Homeless projects from the Wrap Up Tameside Campaign. These were distributed to individuals and families who were in desperate need of a winter coat."
Last week, we gave the sad news that Mike Vidler had passed away. Mike’s funeral will take place on 21st August, 11.30am, at Dukinfield Crematorium. The wake will be held afterwards at Dukinfield Cricket Club. If you wish to go to the wake, please let Janet Vidler know, in order to help with catering numbers.We send love and prayers to Mike’s family and friends.
