Our book for September is 'Prodigal Summer' by Barbara Kingsolver.
All are welcome to join in an hour's discussion on Zoom, no matter how much of the book you have read.

Over the course of one humid summer, this novel's intriguing protagonists—a reclusive wildlife biologist, a young farmer's wife marooned far from home, and a pair of elderly, feuding neighbours—face disparate predicaments but find connections to one another and to the flora and fauna with whom they necessarily share a place. Their discoveries are embedded inside countless intimate lessons of biology, the realities of small farming, and the final, urgent truth that humans are only one piece of life on earth.
'Prodigal Summer' is a hymn to wildness that celebrates the prodigal spirit of human nature, and of nature itself.

Our Prayer Shawl Ministry group meets again in Köln-Holweide on Saturday 12 September from 10am to 4pm.
This powerful ecumenical ministry and spiritual practice reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace, as well as in celebration and joy.
Prayer shawl ministry groups can be found all over the world. They knit or crochet shawls to console those who are grieving, comfort those who are ill, and bring hope to those in despair. Shawls may also be made to celebrate life and its milestones.
Many blessings are prayed into every stitch.
Please pray for our knitters and their work, and the people who will receive the gifts of this ministry of compassion.

This year, rather than a pilgrimage, we are pleased to offer a brief time in Kloster Arenberg, Koblenz – to rest, to delve deeper into quiet and contemplative prayer, to share the sacred rhythms of the Kloster, to take walks in nature, and to come to better know ourselves and one another.
We will meet at the Kloster on Thursday 22 October (check-in at 3pm), and check out on Saturday after noonday Mass. The cost is approximately €350 per person, which includes meals and the use of the conference room. Financial assistance is, of course, available.
