Combe is a village in the English county of Oxfordshire. It is
about 12 miles north of Oxford, next to the Blenheim estate. The
official name of the parish is "Combe Longa". The church of St.
Laurence, which dates from the 12th century, is located in the
village.
Combe C of E primary school was run by Wendy Foster and has
achieved great results under her leadership. In 2006 all pupils
taking SATS got level 5's!
The local pub is the Cock Inn, situated next to the village green,
where Combe school children Maypole dance in the Spring
[May], a Summer Ball takes place in the Summer, a Fun Fair in
the Autumn and a firework display in the Winter [November].
The Cricket and Football teams are an integral part of life in
combe, with many from the village turning out at the weekend
to play. The youth have lots to do with Chris Drinkwater setting
up youth teams about a decade ago and continuing to support
them along with a willing body of helpers.
The village is picturesque with an intriguing neighbourhood.
