St John the Baptist, Cottered

Welcome!

Welcome to our beautiful ancient church of St John the Baptist, Cottered. We are one of the five parishes that form the United Benefice of Ardeley, Benington, Cottered, Throcking and Walkern. The Priest-in-Charge of our Benefice is Rev Mark Bailey, who lives in Cottered Rectory with his wife, Sue.

Worship services are held on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sunday of each month. On 4th Sundays, the service takes place at our historic sister church, Holy Trinity Throcking. On the 5th Sunday, a Benefice Service is held. See the 'News' page for venue details.

Safeguarding Statement

The parish of Cottered is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops' guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). The Diocese of St. Albans’ safeguarding pages contain vital links and information, including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA), who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm, please contact the PSO, Revd Mark Bailey 01763 281052 or the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
