WEDNESDAY 17 FEBRUARY : ASH WEDNESDAY
 
We begin the season of Lent together by receiving the sign of the cross in ash, to remind us of our baptism into Christ, our human frailty, and the abundance of God’s mercy.
 
11.00am                     THE EUCHARIST with hymns at Cawthorne
 
7.30pm                        SUNG EUCHARIST at Darton
 
EVERY TUESDAY

                                       followed by a simple lunch of soup, bread and cheese with
                                       donations to the Bishop of Wakefield’s Lent Appeal.                        
 
The Eucharist on Tuesdays and Thursdays is a quiet celebration (lasting just half an hour) with plenty of space for silence and reflection.
 
 
If, during Lent, you would like to make your confession, or have time with one of the clergy to reflect on your Christian journey, please contact the clergy and we will be glad to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet with you and talk in confidence.

MONDAY EVENINGS 
at 7.00pm in Darton Parish Church
 
 
“OPEN TO THE WORLD”
An Exploration of the Gospel of Luke
 
During this Christian year the focus of our readings at the Sunday Eucharist is the Gospel according to Luke. Its unique character is universal in outlook, and demonstrates Jesus’ concern for the outsider and the exploited.
 
Over four Monday evenings we shall explore different aspects of this Gospel, gain an insight into the world from which it emerged, and explore its meaning for today’s world.
 
Each session will comprise of a 45 minute presentation and discussion, followed by a cuppa and end with Compline (Night Prayer) at 8.15pm so that you can be on your way home by 8.30pm.

                                                              The songs of Mary, Zecharaiah and Simeon

TUESDAY EVENINGS 
at 7.45pm in Cawthorne Parish Room
 
“CHRIST PLAYS IN TEN THOUSAND PLACES”
A Seires of Talks and Discussions on
the relationship of Faith to aspects of Human Well-being
 
The title of these talks is taken from a poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins to echo his conviction that the world and all human activity is shot-through with glimpses of the divine. It is hoped that these talks will help us to explore how faith impinges on various areas of personal and social well-being.
 
Each talk is followed by questions and discussion, with a cuppa to finish. You should be on your way home by 9.00pm.
