Sat 27 June 2-6pm: Athelington Hall, near Eye “Our Bishop’s vision”—presentation for Archdeaconry of Suffolk
Bishop Nigel will be outlining the shape of the Church’s ministry in Suffolk as we look forward to the diocese’s centenary in 2014, at a series of events this summer. The multi media presentations, are set to be staged at high profile venues across the county. The afternoons, which it’s planned will run 2pm and 6pm, will offer you the opportunity to speak to those diocesan officers and advisers who will be aiding parishes to deliver the vision. The event’s centrepiece will be a series of presentations outlining the shape of the ministry of the Church in the second decade of the century, climaxing in a keynote presentation from Bishop Nigel. (see Diocesan Website). This event is now full.

Mon 21 December Christmas Mystery Play: St Mary Magdalene, Debenham at 7pm
A Christmas Mediaeval Mystery Play in Debenham for the first time – at least in recent history – performed by some local peasant folk! We are lucky that an experienced director, and some enthusiastic actors have come together to produce a Christmas Mystery Play for us – the Wakefield Cycle, The Second Shepherd’s Play. It will be in Debenham on 21st December, 7p.m., followed by a short Carol Service. All are welcome to this event. Mystery Plays developed in mediaeval times, perhaps out of the liturgy. They became a great entertainment, mixing the sacred and the secular as they toured on carts, bringing their message out where it belonged, into the heart and minds of ordinary folk …. that these folk were Yorkshire folk shouldn’t worry a Suffolk audience ..see you there.St Mary Magdalene Church, Debenham, 7pm
