St James

St James' Church of England stands on the site of a medieval leper hospital built during the time of the Crusades. As Christians have worshipped on this site over the centuries, they have also sought to reach out in a practical way with the good news of God's love.

The present church was built when the railway works relocated to Doncaster, thanks to the generosity of the shareholders of Great Northern Railways, for the spiritual well-being of their workers. Our motto of "making the connections that matter..." reflects both that past history and the future, with the coming of the new Interchange, and underlies all we do.

We hope you will find a spiritual home here and, above all, connect with God, as well as with other Christians and the community.
