St Wilfrid's Church is a young and outward looking church with a strong mission focus. Begun in 1994 as an Anglican church 'plant' in what was then a rapidly growing residential district of the city, we were joined 7 years later by the Methodist church, and now function as an LEP (Local Ecumenical Partnership). We meet for worship on Sunday mornings in a local Special School, and at other times for social activities in a variety of places. We are family orientated and have a large Sunday School comprising four groups: Creche, Junior Sunday School, Sunday School and Junior Church.

St Wilfrid's is served by both an Anglican Priest and a Methodist Minister and enjoys the ministry of Methodist Lay Preachers and an Anglican Reader as well.

Sunday

Morning Worship
Sunday morning Worship at St Wilfrid's takes a variety of formats. Generally speaking 1st and 3rd Sundays are Holy Communion, 2nd Sundays are Praise Services, 4th Sundays are All-age Worship and where there is a 5th Sunday we try to vary our style. All of our services are family orientated and child friendly, and we welcome visitors to continue fellowship with us over coffee after the service. We have a choir which rehearses every week, and is currently rehearsing Easter music.
Every Sunday at 10:00 AM for 1 hour
Family Friendly creche Sunday School Coffee
Fairtrade Stall
St Wilfrid's has a Fairtrade stall which is open both before and after our church service. The stall is non-profit making and is simply a way of making fairly traded goods available to people and of raising awareness of the need for fairness in the marketplace. The stall is held fortnightly. As this is a new venture for us, we are uncertain which lines will be most popular etc, so if there are particular items people would like us to stock for them, please let us know.
fortnightly every first and third Sunday at 11:10 AM for ½ hour

Evening Service of Holy Communion
On the second Sunday of each month St Wilfrid's holds an evening service of Holy Communion in Croftside House, Hall Farm. The service begins at 6pm and is open to all.

Locality Healing Service
On the third Sunday of every month the churches of the Sunderland South Locality (St Matthew's, Silksworth, St Paul's, Ryhope and St Wilfrid's, Doxford) join together for a Healing Service. This begins at 6pm and is held in St Matthew's Church, Silksworth. All are welcome to attend.
Every third Sunday at 6:00 PM for 1 hour

Wednesday

Parish Office
Our Anglican Priest is available between 6pm and 7pm every Wednesday evening to book weddings and baptisms. Because we have no permanent building of our own, we share 'Office Hour' with St Matthew's Church, Silksworth. Please call in at the Vestry, St Matthew's Church, to make arrangements for you special services. We will be pleased to help you with any enquiry about our church's life.
Every Wednesday at 6:00 PM for 1 hour
Family Friendly
Choir Practice
Our choir meets weekly (usually on Wednesday evenings) to rehearse and to learn new pieces of music. We welcome new people and anyone interested in joining our choir should speak to Rev'd Judith or to Viv Watson, or contact us by email. Currently we are learning a selection of both secular and sacred pieces. Please note: during Lent we shall be holding our Choir Practices in St Paul's Church, Ryhope.
Every Wednesday at 7:30 PM for 1½ hours

Thursday

Holy Communion
St Wilfrid's Church holds a service of Holy Communion every Thursday morning at 9:30am in Croftside House, Hall Farm. Most weeks the service is led by an Anglican priest, once a month by our Methodist minister. The service is open to all and new people are always most welcome. Tea and biscuits are served after the service.
Every Thursday at 9:30 AM for 40 minutes
Family Friendly Coffee
Craft and Coffee Evening
On Thursday evenings, St Wilfrid's holds a coffee and crafts evening in Croftside House, Hall Farm, from 7pm - 8:30pm. This event is open to everyone, whether resident at Croftside or not. In our first few months we have been involved in a number of activities including: Knitting 'Teddies for Tragedies' (to be sent to children in areas where there has been a humanitarian disaster), manufacturing birthday and other greetings cards, making a range of craft items for sale at our Christmas and Spring Fayres, knitting and crocheting a number of goods such as blankets, baby hats and children's jumpers (which are sent to various countries where relief aid is needed), making 'Sunday School Reward Cards' (which are sent to Missionaries running a church in Zimbabwe, for distribution to the 400 children in their Sunday School), and sending cards of encouragement to christians around the world who are imprisioned because of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We are always on the lookout for new projects and new ideas are always welcome. Come along and try your hand at something new. Drop in for a coffee. Meet new folks and have a chat. We'd love to see you there!
