Getting Married In Elland: S.Mary’s or All Saints Churches

A wedding is one of life’s great moments, a time of solemn commitment as well as good wishes, feasting and joy. With over 800 years experience of arranging Marriage Ceremonies in Elland, we reckon we have something special to offer!

Our churches remain popular places for weddings, whether it is for the timeless intimacy of the medieval S.Mary’s, or the grandeur and splendour of All Saints.

We look forward to working with Couples and planning the day, thinking about Hymns and Music and Readings, talking through the Vows, and about hopes for the future.  Nearer the day, we usually arrange a Rehearsal, so everyone knows what they are doing, and can confidently approach their wedding day!

Up till now, in order to be married in one of our churches, at least one of the couple has to either live in the Parish, or be a regular worshipper. From October 1st 2008, a new set of Marriage Regulations come into operation, which will widen the circumstances under which a couple may qualify to be married. If a Parish Church building has a particular significance, or if there is a particular connection with either that building or the Parish, then it may be possible for a ceremony to take place. (Special arrangements continue to apply if one or both partners have been married before.) Please get in touch with Fr.David if you would like to discuss this further.

From time to time, we are also asked for special services to mark Wedding Anniversaries. or other significant life occasions. Again, please ask!
