St Christopher’s, Ellistown is a family friendly church; very welcoming to newcomers, with a warm atmosphere. It has recently been modernised with free standing chairs and a new, efficient heating system. A variety of services include Holy Communion and an upbeat family service once a month. Coffee is served after the family service, giving opportunity for good fellowship.
St Christopher’s is one of three churches in the parish (see links to the other two on the right of this page.) It was originally built in 1895 to serve the newly established mining community of Ellistown. Today the church is rediscovering it’s role in the village as the distinctive red brick building is given a new lease of life. The rector is Rev’d Olwen Woolcock and she is assisted by her curate, Rev’d Rhona Passey. Olwen can be contacted using the information found on the ‘contact us’ tab.
One successful new event in the ministry of St Christopher’s is a monthly afternoon social with games, quizzes, refreshments and singing. Local people as well as church members are making new friends in this group. Another social activity on offer are the coffee mornings which are held each month after the midweek communion service.
The is also a small, friendly Sunday School at St Christopher’s for ages 4 upwards. It meets at 11am each Sunday morning during the main service. The church also runs an after school club at the Ellistown Community Primary School for ages 4 - 11.
