About our Parish

St Mary's has a small, hardworking and loyal congregation, which is drawn from many miles around. Worshippers are attracted by the beauty of this country church within just a few miles of Greater London, by the continued use of traditional language for its services and by the friendliness of its welcome.

Every summer the congrgation bakes and serves home-made teas in the attractive new hall behind the church (2.30 -5.00 pm every Sunday, from May to September) to raise much-needed funds for the upkeep of their ancient building. Their customers go into 'mourning' when the Teas season ends each year and are almost waiting on the doorstep when the next season begins. Also in the summer, a service of Compline is held by candlelight each Sunday at 8 pm, with a short talk, by one of a wide variety of speakers, on the life of a person of faith or character from the Bible.
