St James the Great

Welcome to St James the Great Church where everyone is welcome. The Church is mainly 15th century and consists of a nave, north aisle, chancel, and vestry. The church was heavily restored in the 19th century and the nave and chancel about 1849, retaining the late medieval pews, and Rood screen. Much of the medieval fabric of the nave survives. St James the Great is open to visitors everyday in daylight hours.

This Benefice takes the wellbeing and safety of the children and vulnerable adults that attend our church very seriously. If you wish to raise a Safeguarding concern, please contact Janet Weeks our Safeguarding Officer or Lynn Lake our Benefice Safeguarding Officer on 01823 400305 or by email at: [email protected]. Alternatively, you can contact the Diocesan Safeguarding Team on 01749 685135 and find more information on their website: https://www.bathandwells.org.uk/diocese/safeguarding/

Safeguarding

"Our parish of Fitzhead is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Bath & Wells’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the Safeguarding Officer Janet Weeks or the Benefice Safeguarding Officer, Lynn Lake on 01823 400305 or the Diocesan Safeguarding Manager, Ben Goodhind on 01749 588917. Or you can find more information on their website: https://www.bathandwells.org.uk/diocese/safeguarding/
If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police.
