Annual Parish Meeting - 2009

The Annual Parish Meeting was held on 20 April 2009.

Elected to the PCC were:- Lord Romney; Mr M Chamberlain; Mr G Lane; Mrs V Rasberry; and Mrs J Weavers.

In the absence of Mr Chamberlain (Treasurer) copies of  the audited accounts for the year ending 31 December 2008 were reviewed by the meeting. Income for the year had amounted to £7495; this included a sum of £1500 that had been returned to the parish from the Magazine account. However, it was noted that less than half of the Parish Share had been paid to the Diocese. The financial situation of the church was very difficult. The audited accounts were adopted by the meeting.

The Parish Magazine accounts were also inspected. These showed a balance of £7181 at 31 December 2008. Surplus funds of £4875 had been disbursed amongst the various parishes. The magazine continued to be self financing; advertising revenue covered the costs of production.

Mr Lane, the Fabric Officer told the meeting that matters were in hand to deal with the work that had been identified, at the last quinquennial inspection, as being urgently necessary. This largely concerned the 'weatherproofing' of the church.

Lord Romney reported that the work in the chancel, to improve the lighting, heating and carpeting had been completed. A gift of a keyboard had been gratefully received and had been brought into use. The next step in re-ordering the church would be to obtain a faculty (licence) for the installation of a small kitchen and toilet facilities.

Mrs Weavers presented her Deanery Synod Report and the PCC Annual Report was also presented to the meeting.

At the meeting, Lord Romney, Mr M Chamberlain, Mr G Lane and Mrs V Rasberry were elected to the PCC.

Mrs Weavers was  the Deanery Synod representative and Lord Romney was elected to the post of Churchwarden.

(Copies of the Annual Report and Audited Accounts; The Deanery Synod Report, and the Draft Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting will shortly be placed in the church)
