All Hallows Church stands at a prominent point in the centre of the Parish. It is visible from the majority of houses in the parish. The parish is approximately four miles north east of Nottingham, with a population of 10,500. Although it is clearly a residential suburb of Nottingham it still retains many of the characteristics of a village. A busy road divides Gedling village with long distance traffic passing by the church. A by-pass has been proposed but it has not yet been included in any road programme.
