The church of St Mary and St Gabriel enjoys an elevated position dominating the village of South Harting, at the foot of the wooded slopes of the South Downs. It forms a well-known landmark with its light green steeple and serves East and West Harting as well as Nyewood.
For over 1000 years Christians have assembled here. This fine medieval building of brick, stone and cement rendering witnesses to their worship of the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Eucharist services follow the Church of England form of Common Worship which includes the more modern form of the Eucharist / Holy Communion. Our Evensong services still follow the pattern set down in the Book of Common Prayer as included in Common Worship.
All are welcome to join us for Eucharist or Evensong services.
We invite baptised members of all trinitarian Christian churches to take communion. If you do not take communion you are invited to participate in the service by approaching the altar to receive a blessing.
