The church at Hassingham is dedicated to St Mary and consists of a chancel, nave and round tower with one bell. The church roof was destroyed by fire in the 1960s and almost all the interior furnishings were lost, otherwise the medieval fabric survived unscathed. The building is Norman in origin, with thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth-century additions and some nineteenth-century restorations. There is a small quantity of good medieval and sixteenth-century stained glass. As a result of the fire the present day furnishings are of modern design. The building is in an excellent state of repair and up to date with the last quinquennial report, having recently restored the east window and carried out a complete internal redecoration scheme.
