St James

St James is a very pretty church, designed, along with the rest of our small village, by Teulon, a prominent Victorian architect. The church sits at the heart of our small community and is treasured.

We have six services a year, all very well attended, and always followed by famously substantial refreshments, giving us a welcome opportunity to continue in fellowship.

Safeguarding

Like the Church of England as a whole, we as a parish are committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops' guidance and policies (https://www.churchofengland.org/sites/default/files/2019-05/PromotingSaferChurchWeb.pdf); our Parish Safeguarding Officer is Mrs Ursula Martell, who can be reached on [email protected]. The Diocese of Newcastle’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Casework Advisor (DSA), Jill Thirlaway, who can be contacted on: [email protected]. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA . If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
