The life of the Church is first and foremost one of prayer which then, through the ministry of the Spirit of God, works His way into the stuff of our lives. It is a real pleasure to know from our Visitors' Book that such a number of visitors come and are grateful for what our parish church and the churchyard offers them. There has been a village in this beautiful and sheltered valley probably since Saxon times. It may be that part of the nave of the church dates from this time. The parish had its own Rectors until about 30 years ago - with pictures of them going back to the early years of photography. The gathering process of combining parishes has, of course, been a feature of this benefice as in many country parishes. There are now seven parishes in this benefice and The Rectory for them all is next to St Mary's.
