St Matthew's Church, Landscove, welcomes you!
This is a beautiful mid 19th Century church, designed by John Loughborough Pearson, who later became the architect of Truro Cathedral. It has a pretty Victorian broached spire, rather untypical of the Devon style, and the attractive churchyard is approached through a delightful Grade II listed slate-roof, buttressed lychgate.
Along with the church, the school and Hill House Nursery, Landscove village (including the hamlets of Memory Cross, Barkingdon, Beara, Wolston Green, Gullaford, Blacker Barton and Thornecroft) is a thriving community.
The service pattern varies from week to week, so please click on the Services and Events tab for details.
Since June 2014 we have been part of the Dart Valley Mission Community, which also includes:
St Luke's, Buckfastleigh
St Paul de Leon, Staverton
St John the Baptist, Littlehempston
St George the Martyr, Dean Prior.
The vicar for the whole mission community is Tom Benson - please see the contact page for details. He is assisted by a ministry team consisting of retired priest George Day and two readers Tricia Stokes and David Harwood. We also look forward to welcoming Marisa Cockwood once she is ordained in September.
For more details, both of our church, and of the other churches, please see the mission community website, www.dartvalleymissioncommunity.org.uk
PLEASE NOTE - Because of slow legal processes some of the material on the "More Info" tab and in the "Our Other Churches" section is outdated, but unfortunately cannot be altered at present. In particular please note that the parishes of Broadhempston and Woodland are now in a different benefice.
