Welcome to the Parish Church of St Hydroc, Lanhydrock in the Bodmin Team Ministry.
St Hydroc's is a small but vibrant rural parish which offers a warm welcome to visitors from all over the world to this beautiful setting. We also support the work and mission of the Anglican Church of Peru through prayer and fundraising.
The Parish Church is a place of prayer and tranquility, next to Lanhydrock House, a National Trust property which is open to visitors throughout the summer (see link below for opening times).
BAPTISMS are held in each of the churches within the Team. We are always delighted to baptise (or christen) infants, children and adults into the family of the church. There are no fees associated with this service.
We always welcome enquiries from adults who wish to be baptized. Hopefully this will lead to confirmation.
Sometimes parents choose a thanksgiving service for their birth of their child, which can be followed by baptism at a later date.
MARRIAGES are held in each of the churches in the Team.
Most weddings take place on Saturdays. The Team arranges an evening of marriage preparation which couples are encouraged to attend. Additionally the priest taking the service will conduct a rehearsal with the couple and if required meet to discuss additional details of the wedding.
There are legal restrictions as to whom we may marry. Either one or both persons must reside in the parish, or at least one of their parents must reside in the parish, or they must convince the Archbishop of Canterbury's Registrar that they have sufficiently strong connections with the parish for him to give permission. Alternatively one of the couple has to be registered on the Church Electoral Roll. These options can be discussed with the Team Rector. Alternatively you may have a church service of thanksgiving and dedication of a civil marriage when permission for a church wedding is not granted.
Where some-one is divorced and their former partner is still living, then the Team Rector is happy to meet and discuss the circumstances, advising accordingly.
For further details and making arrangements for both Baptisms and Marriages either come to the Team Office, St Petroc’s Rectory, Priory Road, Bodmin on any Thursday between 6.00 pm amd 7.00 pm or telephone 0120873867 or email: [email protected] to make an appointment to see the Team Rector, The Revd Canon Graham Minors.
