We are a small church in a small village. But size isn't everything! Our "church on the crossroads", is the visible face of Christianity in our village and is widely supported.

Our future is of a shared building with the local Methodists. Both congregations were faced with decaying buildings with large repairs bills. So it was decided for both congregations to share this church. The Chapel was sold and most of the funds raised will be put into re-modelling the church and increasing the facilities to make it more suitable for all to use. In future the building will be shared and we will continue to worship together at some services. The building work for the refurbishment in near completion and we are hopeful to have it open for use by Christmas.

Recently our Parish priest retired. The impact on Leavening has been minikised with the support of the PCC which has managed to maintain a reasonable service pattern.

To commemorate this change and that the village YCA (Yorkshire Countrywomen’s Association) is celebrating 25 years, the two (Acklam & Leavening)churches and YCA will co-operate to create The Leavening Embroidery.(see Related Pages below)

Much of our energy goes into fundraising, but we still have enough left for Worship and Prayer.
