LEAVENING CHURCHES’ NEWSLETTER MARCH 2008
Firstly and most importantly, it does look as if the bureaucratic stalemate over finalising the sharing of the church by the Methodist and Anglican congregations has finally been overcome. At the last meeting, a deadline of Easter was set for the signing of the Agreement and the handing over of money from the sale of the Chapel towards the refurbishment of the Church. The delay means that costs have escalated of course so there will have to be another look now at whether we go for the internal re-ordering only or push on to extend the building slightly in order to retain a bigger and more useful space. Once work begins all worship will have to be in the Methodist Schoolroom, Main Street -which in case anyone doesn’t know, is available for hire for a minimum donation of £12 per session. Great venue for children’s parties etc.

With over 20 people, aged 6 - 89 attending, the Embroidery Group continues to sew at 1.30 every Monday afternoon in the Methodist Schoolroom. It is a time of good fellowship and some excitement as the Embroidery itself now begins to take shape. Each square takes Chris and Bertie ages to draw and nothing we can say can really express how grateful we are for their commitment and high standards. Keith Harte too has spent ages making us equipment and producing images on the computer and we are very grateful to him too. If anyone else still wants to come along we will be delighted to see them – no expertise necessary. (Contact Chris Addley 658560)

Information all in the events calendar- in Leavening we have the Eucharist of the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday at 7pm. in church. Please come and join us.
Diary Dates
Every first Saturday in the month there will be a Coffee morning at Pat and Les Dawson’s house at 6, Millfield Close. Wilberfoss. Proceeds to Chapel funds.
