Spend, spend, spend – The old £1 coin ceases to be legal tender on October 15th. Unlike old paper notes - which can be posted to the Bank of England at any time - once the deadline has passed you will not be able to spend or bank your round pounds (although your bank might take them for a short period if you have an account with them.) A poll taken by the Royal Mint estimates that one in three households have some stashed away in savings jars and piggy banks - which means there's roughly around 9 million households across the country with round pounds in their possession.
Please check your Children’s Society boxes now and make sure there are none lurking there.

Craft Fair – We are planning a Craft Fair using Lingwood Church as a venue, though open to the entire Benefice to participate next August Bank Holiday. We would like people to display (and if possible demonstrate) their skills at knitting, painting, photography, crochet, card making, lacemaking, flower arranging and any other craft they are skilled at or just love. Speak to Heather or Penny Carter if you or someone you know might take part, or be interested in joining a small team to organise.
Would anyone be willing to take on the role of Poster Co-ordinator at Lingwood Church? David & Heather will continue to produce the posters for events and the co-ordinator would oversee where the posters are going up and who is putting them up, filling in any gaps. We work very hard at organising events and the more effective publicity we can get the better.
