St Mary’s, Linton stands on an ancient site, distinguished by the oldest yew tree in England (4000 years, according to certain authorities), and may have a history connected with the Christian community at ancient Ariconium. The church has strong support for the traditional Prayer Book services, and also has a successful children’s Sunday Club in the Village Hall. The parish was blessed in the 19th century by the energetic ministry of the Revd Edward Palin, great-grandfather of the comic actor.
