Our Clergy

The Rev’d Garth Barber (Priest in Charge)
Garth Barber served as a Seaman Officer in the Royal Navy before “studying for Holy Orders" at St. John's College, Nottingham. He served three years in the parish of Holy Trinity, Hounslow and went on to be the Anglican chaplain of the City of London Polytechnic. He later became priest-in-charge of All Hallows, Twickenham before spending five years as chaplain at the University of East Anglia. He was appointed as priest-in-charge of Kingswood in 2002.

An astrophysicist and cosmologist by training and a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, Garth continues to do research in cosmology and is concerned to build on the relationship between science and faith. He is the Warden, of the Society of Ordained Scientists.

Garth, his wife Elspeth, (who helps run JAM Club) and their children Alex, William and Catriona (Katie) are delighted to welcome you to the parish.



The Rev’d Arthur Bowyer (Honorary Curate)
Arthur was born in Tadworth and has lived most of his life in this area. He was a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with the Central Electricity Generating Board. Arthur has always been interested in things heavenly and is a keen amateur astronomer.

He and his wife Audrey enjoy classical music and country walks with their dog. They have a son, a daughter and four grandchildren.

He was licensed as a Reader in 1986, ordained deacon in 2000 and priest in 2001.
