St Mary’s Church is situated in the north-east of St Albans at the junction of Sherwood Avenue and Marshalswick Lane.
It was built in the mid 1950s and became a parish church in 1972 when it was consecrated by Bishop Robert Runcie.

Our church is here to serve the community of Marshalswick. We are always pleased to explore the possibility of baptism, confirmation and marriage. We also offer a service of blessing to those married in a Registry Office, and are happy to discuss church weddings for those who have been married before.

We are also here to help at difficult times, to offer prayers for those who are ill and to help with the planning and leading of funerals in church or at the Crematorium or Cemetery.

Visit our Church

St Mary’s is open every day for those who want to spend time with God or in quiet thought. The Community Prayer Request board in the entrance lobby is a place to ask for particular people or situations to be remembered in the prayers of the church. A new prayer focus, the Pebble Pool, has been introduced into church for the community to use. Alternatively, prayer requests may be e-mailed. As a congregation, we pray for the life of our community each day. Outside there is a quiet garden space which may be used as a focus for worship.
