The benefice is currently in vacancy and therefore some regular services and events may be suspended or amended, in particular it may be necessary to substitute Mattins for Sung Eucharist services. Contact details are for the Reader. If you email via this website the webmaster will forward your email to the most appropriate person to handle your enquiry.
St James's is one of the churches that make up the joint benefice of the Stanwick Group of Churches. Please check our website for details of services as in a joint benefice circumstances may make it necessary to depart from the normal service routine. Look at the Calendar page for this month to confirm details of date, time and venue of services.
Melsonby has 4 bells and the PCC hopes to get a band started to reintroduce ringing to the parish. They were rung in March 2012 by a visiting band from Holy trinity, Wall Street, New York during a 'tower-bagging' tour of northern England.
If you wish to get married in St James's and your guests are unused to attending church, consider asking our choir to sing as they will know any hymns you choose and this will give everyone else more confidence to sing. The choir also has a repertoire of short anthems suitable to sing during the signing of the registers.
