The United Benefice of Stratfield Mortimer, Mortimer West End and Padworth is situated about ten miles South of Reading. Its aim is to further the mission of the Church in this area to the glory of God. There are four churches in the Benefice and two Church schools, St. Mary’s (VA) Juniors and St. John’s (Controlled) both in Mortimer. A daily Eucharist is offered at varying times and places and the Blessed Sacrament is reserved in all our churches (except St. Mary’s).
Vicar: Fr. Paul Chaplin.
Associate Priests: Fr. Gerald Shaw, Fr. Alan Barnes.

St. John the Evangelist is the largest church with regular worship. The main Sunday service is the 10 am Sung Eucharist, with a well-established competent robed SATB Choir. A Sunday School is held in St. John’s School (adjacent to the Church). Various Benefice Fellowship Groups meet throughout the week to reflect the needs of the people, and the clergy are available for the sacraments of the Church.
Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confessions): Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 pm, or by appointment.

The Benefice Office is open from 9 am-12 noon Monday to Friday.
