St. Mary's is a community of faith, hope and love, seeking God’s Kingdom;
making connections with God, one another, local people and the wider world.

St. Mary's was founded in c1020 and has been a site of Christian Worship for 1,000 years. If you are thinking of visiting our church for the first time, please know that you are very welcome to attend any of our services.

Never been to a church before? Don't worry, just join us! During the service we often use set words, which you can follow on the sheet you will receive from our friendly sidesmen at the entrance. You will soon find out that the bold text on the sheets is for all the people to say together, and the rest is for the minister to say.

Most services include some songs, a sermon, some time for prayer, and a celebration of the Eucharist. At one point during the celebration of the Eucharist people may walk to the front of the church to receive some bread and wine, or to receive a short prayer of blessing. You are invited to join them if you feel drawn to know more about Jesus. But you don't have to, it's fine to just stay seated if you prefer to do so!

Anyway, do come and join us some time soon, and stay around for a cup of tea/coffee afterwards.
