Christ ChurchAbout our Parish
Christ Church is unashamedly Catholic in its tradition, its history, its worship and its mission. Our main Sunday celebration is the Parish Mass at 10.15 am followed by coffee in the crypt. Our building is imposing, and has been listed 2*; our liturgy is modern catholic with traditional ceremonial. Our congregation is open and diverse in terms of age and background. On Saturdays a priest is available in church at 11.00am to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation to offer counsel or to talk things through. The parish welcomes children and young families; there are several groups connected with the parish including Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Rainbows and Brownies, which meet in the Church Hall. The church has a small choir of adult voices and a stipendiary director of music, and we actively encourage outside groups, musicians and orchestras to use the church, which has a fine acoustic. Our 1882 Holdich organ was rebuilt by Willis in 1929 as a three-manual. There are close links with Christ Church Primary School which is situated near the church.
