The Good Shepherd, Preston, Brighton

About our Parish

Our Parish straddles Dyke Road, a busy main thoroughfare into Brighton and lies across the boundary between Brighton and Hove, now a City and Unitary Authority.

In 1922 the Good Shepherd was carved out of the once rural parish and Deanery of Preston and is now part of the mainly urban Deanery of Brighton, although more than 75% of our current parish lies in Hove.

The parish is near Preston Park railway station which is on the mainline to London (59 minutes). The church lies on bus routes into the centre of Brighton and is within walking distance of three parks.

The parish includes a number of shops, a Post Office and a public house. Such amenities are dispersed and there is no particular focal point other than the Church.
There are five very different schools and colleges within the parish.

Population: 9000
