Barnstaple Parish Church

About our Parish

This ancient parish church has been in existence since 1107. It occupies a central position amongst the shops in the town centre and shares with Chesterfield the distinctive feature of a twisted spire.

Visitors and newcomers are welcome and we look forward very much to seeing you if you are new to the area, or are visiting North Devon and savouring the delights of this very beautiful area. You are assured of a warm welcome at S. Peter's.

The worship is in the contemporary Anglo-Catholic tradition. The liturgy is celebrated with reverence and dignity, using 'Common Worship' for all Masses. The music at the Sunday Mass is traditional, enhanced by a fine three manual organ and a regular choir. The New English Hymnal is used. This is a Forward in Faith parish, where Resolutions A and B have been passed by the Parochial Church Council. However, it is not a 'narrow' or exclusive church and everyone is welcome.
