About our ParishSt John's Parochial Church Council has the responsibility of co-operating with the Incumbent in promoting in the ecclesiastical parish the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical. It also has maintenance responsibilities for the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist Bircle, Bury which includes Topping Fold, Fairfield, Jericho & Birtle.
Our Mission Statement is: "We are here to worship God, to reach out with the Good News of Jesus, to welcome everyone including you."
Our Vicar since 1993 is the Reverend Arthur Brockbank. He has previously served as Curate of St Mary's Haughton Green (from 1990-1993) and as Chaplaincy Co-ordinator at Fairfield General Hospital (from 1993-2002)and as Priest-in-Charge of Christ Church Walmersley during 2004. Prior to Ordination in 1990 he had a long career in the NHS in Medical Records, Health Service Management and Medical Staffing, and worked as a Lay Parish Visitor while studying on The Northern Ordination Course in Manchester. He also has a BTEC National Diploma in Photography from Wigan College of Art & Design. He was born in Bolton in 1951 and is married to Diane who has three adult children and two grandchildren - they also have a Springer Spaniel called "Barney"!
