Lingwood

About our Parish

Lingwood covers an area of about 4 square miles, comprising a mixture of privately owned and social housing. It is located in a rural area with good transport links. The village is compact and amenities are easily accessible on foot.

The railway station provides a regular service to the seaside town of Great Yarmouth, 15 miles to the east, and the city of Norwich 9 miles to the west. A bus service also provides an alternative means of public transport, with stops in the villages en route. Lingwood is just half a mile from the A47 and is therefore well catered for, whether using public or private transport.

There are two schools, providing for children from the village and beyond. Lingwood First and Nursery School provides education up to Year 3 and Lingwood Junior School to year 6. The feeder secondary school is located in the village of Acle approximately 4 miles away. There is also a playgroup held at the Village Hall and a private nursery catering for pre-school children.

Village amenities include a village hall and grounds, post office, hairdresser, fish and chip shop, Spar shop, public house, Station House bed and breakfast and Lingwood & Strumpshaw Reading room. There are a number of organisations in the village providing a wide range of activities for all ages. These include drama, craft, Lingwood Ladies, cubs, scouts, beavers, brownies, football and a social club. There is also Methodist Church in the village.
